Nathan in Charleston, Amber in… Nicaragua?
The title of this post says it all. I will be in Charleston this weekend. And Amber will be in Nicaragua until the 19th. Yes, Nicaragua!
Our good friends, the Overcashes, are leading their annual medical mission trip. At the very last minute - two days before team was set to leave for Nicaragua - a spot opened up on the team for another medical person (Amber is an RN). So, she boarded her flight this morning and is now on her way! She will meet the rest of the team from Seacoast Church and Mosaic Church this afternoon in Managua, Nicaragua.
Obviously, God’s hand is in all of this. Amber will have the opportunity to serve the Nicaraguans again, visit “God’s School” and see the little boy we’re sponsoring there (Juan), practice Spanish and gain more experience serving in medical clinics. This trip should be a perfect tune-up for our hosting our first medical mission team in Costa Rica in just over two months from now.
If you wouldn’t mind, please pray for Amber and the team this week as they serve. Pray for physical and spiritual healing for the Nicaraguans who will visit the clinic. And pray for strength and courage for the mission team members.
My weekend and week will be a little less exciting, but I’m still very excited about it. I will be in Charleston. At the services this weekend, Seacoast will show a taped interview Amber and I did with our good friend Josh Surratt. The interview is about how we got involved at Seacoast and how that commitment impacted our lives. The video should fit perfectly with this weekend’s message: how a simple invitation to church can change someone’s life. Amber was invited to Seacoast by a friend at her work. How did that invitation change her life? Well, let’s see, she became a Christian, she joined Seacoast, joined a Small Group, met me somewhere along the way, and now is about to leave the country to become a missionary! Hopefully her testimony will encourage Seacoasters to invite more people to church. I’ll post the video here on the blog next week.
Before I hit the road, let me throw in one more prayer request. We are now at 86 percent of our monthly support. Eighty-six percent. We’re getting close! Please pray that God will work through the video this weekend - pray that He will bring in the rest of our support quickly. I hope to be able to discuss our departure date with GOM’s leadership next week. Thank you for your prayers and continued support. Have a great weekend. God bless.
