Between Paychecks, But Trusting God

Nov 13th, 2007 by Nathan | 0

I promised you I’d provide an update on how you can continue supporting us — or join us in ministry for the first time through giving!  Here it is.

Amber and I are between paychecks right now.  And that’s a perfect place to be.

Why?

Because we’re totally relying on God to supply our needs!

This has been an interesting couple of months for us.  Just a few weeks ago we told all of our monthly supporters to stop supporting us.  Crazy, right?  It seemed a little crazy to us at the time as well!  But we knew it was the right thing to do.  We knew God would provide.  And we knew our team of supporters would be behind us, waiting to begin giving again once we landed with a new mission agency.

So, for the last few weeks we’ve been waiting for Christ for the City to give us the go ahead on raising support through them.  Today we got the go ahead.  What does that mean?  It means if you would like to begin (or restart) monthly giving or make a one-time donation, you can.

We have to raise $2,800 in monthly support.  That’s about $100 more than we had to raise in Costa Rica.  Housing in Managua is about 150 percent higher than in Orosi.  Other expenditures are roughly equal or cheaper in Nicaragua.  You can see an itemized list of our monthly needs here

We also need to raise approximately $11,000 in up-front money before we leave for Nicaragua.  These funds will cover a new (used) vehicle, furniture, basic appliances, and other costs associated with moving and setup.  We would be honored and blessed if you would consider a one-time gift covering all or a portion of one of these up-front items, detailed here

You can specify how you’d like your donation to be used.  For example, if you would like to provide for the battery system used to power the house when the electricity goes out (which occurs daily for five hours), you can give the $250 necessary to buy a battery, charger, and inverter at Lowe’s.  There are several other items to choose from as well.

If you feel the Lord leading you to partner with us in ministry through monthly support or one-time gifts, you can send your checks to the address below, specifying “Nathan & Amber Babcock Support” on an attached note:

Christ for the City International
PO Box 390395
Omaha, NE 68139

Or if you would like to give online or set up a monthly direct debit gift, you can do that.  Just remember to type “Nathan & Amber Babcock” in the “CFCI Ministry” field.

Amazingly enough, since we left for the mission field last year we’ve never had to worry about money.  God has always provided.  And you, our wonderful, loyal supporters, have always given generously.  I can honestly say that we’re still not worried about money.  We’re excited to begin raising support again because it means we’re one step closer to serving with our “dream ministry” in Nicaragua.  And we’re excited to welcome new supporters to an already stellar team!

Thank you all so much, in advance, for your gifts.  Your reward will be in heaven…and in the smiling faces of the Nicaraguans we’ll be serving.  Together.  As a team.
