A Day at the Beach for the Sandinista Revolution Anniversary

Jul 20th, 2008 by Nathan | 0

Yesterday was the 29th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua. Amber and I “celebrated” the occasion by going to the beach with friend and CFCI intern David. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the drive from our house to the beach is only 32 miles. And it was well worth [...]

Love Your Little Neighbor

Apr 22nd, 2008 by Nathan | 2

On the final evening of every short-term mission trip we have a “debriefing” meeting. It’s a chance for everyone on the team to think back on their experiences from the week — to share, reflect, and prepare for re-entry into American culture.
We encourage each team member to think of one story — one person [...]

Managua Mentioned in “Death by Suburbia” Message?

Apr 7th, 2008 by Nathan | 3

It seems odd that Managua, Nicaragua would pop up in a sermon about the dangers of American, suburban culture, but wouldn’t you know it did last weekend. In a message at The Villlage Church (one of my favorite weekly podcasts), guest speaker Barry Keldie describes an experience he had on a mission trip to [...]

We’ve had some wonderful discussions this week [...]

Dec 27th, 2006 by Nathan | 0

I read a great interview with Rick Warren on Meet the Press today. It’s part politics, part history lesson, and part coming together as Christians to change the entire world. Very interesting stuff. Here’s the link.

"Jeering Laughter" at The Da Vinci Code

May 17th, 2006 by Nathan | 0

I may have to retract my original post about The Da Vinci Code. Maybe I won’t be standing in line to see it after all. The first reviews are in: “The Da Vinci Code drew lukewarm praise, shrugs of indifference, some jeering laughter and a few derisive jabs Tuesday from arguably the world’s toughest movie [...]

Why I Will See The Da Vinci Code

May 4th, 2006 by Nathan | 4

I will stand in line to see The Da Vinci Code on May 19. Let me tell you why.
I read the book - along with approximately 40 million other people - and enjoyed it. It’s a page-turner. Hollywood usually fails to produce movies that equal the novels they are based upon, but I’m betting this [...]
