A Day at the Beach for the Sandinista Revolution Anniversary

Jul 20th, 2008 by Nathan | 0

Yesterday was the 29th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua. Amber and I “celebrated” the occasion by going to the beach with friend and CFCI intern David. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the drive from our house to the beach is only 32 miles. And it was well worth [...]

Episode 006 - Cooking With Claudia

Jun 10th, 2008 by Nathan | 0

You’re going to enjoy Episode #6 of Missions Minded Videos: “Cooking With Claudia!” Claudia will show us how to make Nathan’s mouth-watering Nicaraguan food: pescosones.
They’re a slice of heaven. Fried.
As a bonus for this video, if you watch on YouTube, you’ll see a new feature called YouTube Annotations, which is kind of like interactive Pop-Up [...]

Morning in Managua

Jun 9th, 2008 by Nathan | 0

Amber and I love waking up in Nicaragua. Here are a few reasons why:

Amazing Nicaraguan coffee
A morning serenade from our friendly “neighbors” (a family of goats)

A breezy front porch, comfortable chairs, and a Bible
The assurance that we’re right where [...]

And gasoline is now over $5.00 per gallon (that’s $5.00 per gallon).
I know that a lot of Americans are [...]

Surviving Alma

May 31st, 2008 by Nathan | 0

I received an email this morning from Linda in our “Link Group” at Seacoast asking about how we’re doing after Tropical Storm Alma. I realized that I never updated you on the direct impact of the storm on us here in Managua. (Thank you, Linda, for the reminder!)
The CFCI missionaries here were not [...]

“Tropical Storm Alma Slams Nicaragua”

May 29th, 2008 by Nathan | 0

This storm is turning out to be nastier than expected:
“The fast-growing storm took forecasters and many in Central America by surprise. Residents scrambled to prepare for the storm before it hit.”
Turns out we weren’t the only ones completely caught off guard. Read the full USA Today story here.
Please pray for Nicaraguans in the path [...]

We’re in a Tropical Depression

May 29th, 2008 by Nathan | 0

And I’m not talking about the Alan Jackson song! We woke up this morning to the sound of pouring rain and rivers of water flowing down our sidewalk and driveway. It seems we’re in a Tropical Depression (now Tropical Storm Alma). A little warning would be nice! Oh wait, there was [...]
